The star behind the movie hit The Social Network has been cast as the villain in the upcoming Superman/Batman crossover.

Jesse Eisenberg will play as Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor.

The unexpected choice has shocked many Luthor fans, and if Eisenberg can't get the part right, it could end in disaster, however if he pulls it off, it will certainly go a long way for his fanbase.

Previous actors that have played Lex Luthor have had a massive jolt to their popularity, due to the fact that Lex Luthor is one of the most liked villains of all time.

Over the years we have seen Actors such as Kevin Spacey, Gene Hackman and Michael Rosenbaum play the part of Lex Luthor. Michael Rosenbaum played Lex Luthor in the TV series Smallville and is the longest running actor to play Lex Luthor, and is probably the most suitable for the part, however we will have to wait and see if Jesse can take it to another level.

Jesse Eisenberg's Hollywood success rolled out in front of him after his role in "The Social Network", and since then he has starred in other box office hits such as "To Rome with Love" and "Now You See Me". We will probably be seeing more of him in the future if he can make a big enough impact on the viewing audience in the Superman vs Batman movie.
