3D printed sweets and chocolates
January 8, 2014, 21:27:01 CET | mm-inews

US Company "3D Systems" has been showing off their new 3D printing machines at the Las Vegas CES.

The machines make sweets and chocolates in shapes that would otherwise be difficult or near-impossible.

2 machines will be available: Chefjet and Chefjet Pro. The Chefjet is limited to creating monochrome sweets, whilst the pro can handle multi-coloured creations.

Pricing has been estimated at around £3,000 for the basic and double that for the pro.

Both models can print using chocolate, or sugar infused with vanilla, mint, sour apple, cherry and watermelon flavours.

Sweets are created by spreading a fine layer of the flavoured sugar, and then painting water on top using a jet print head to turn the substance into hardened crystals.
