British actor Bob Hoskins died on Tuesday, April 29 in the hospital after succumbing to pneumonia. Hoskins was surrounded by his family.

Pneumonia is a serious lung infection caused by bacterial or viral infection. When someone is in poor health or very old, pneumonia can become life-threatening.

In 2012, Bob Hoskins announced that he was retiring from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Hoskins was born in Suffolk and grew up in London. Bob climbed his way from stage performances to television and film stardom. He has starred in Hollywood classics such as "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", "Hook" and "Super Mario Brothers".
